Empty Hermit Crab Snail Shells are offered 20 to this bag, and are mixed in color and size. They are especially useful in a saltwater reef aquarium that contain hermit crabs. They are also home to many beneficial micro-organisms that help to keep a healthy balance in an aquarium ecosystem. They may also be used for decoration, and may be used in freshwater aquariums, reptile terrariums and amphibian habitats.

Important Information: As the saltwater reef hermit crabs grow, their shells do not grow to accommodate their larger size. When the crab out-grows its shell, it must then search out a new shell for its home. If an empty shell is not available, the crab will many times have to kill another crab or snail to obtain a shell. Often times if they cannot obtain a new shell fast enough, they are eaten by resident fish. By providing these empty shells, you will reduce the likelihood of the hermit crabs within the aquarium competing for a home, thus prolonging the life span of your entire clean up crew of crabs and snails.

Simply place the entire bag of empty shells in the aquarium where the hermit crabs have access to them.
